Pres Bush to the Iraqis: 'We re coming with a mighty force...to give you a better life"

Why the **** doesn't this President and his advisers get it!? Iraqis don't want to be GIVEN a better life by us, they want to be able to create a better life for themselves and to control their destiny. There is a major distinction there. They don't want to be like us, but they're leaders are telling them that we will impose our will on them. Unfortunately, by our prez's very words to the Iraqi people he is confirming it. The Iraqis want to get rid of Saddam but not if they get a US-imposed govt and life in its place.

At least tell them that we are there to get rid of Saddam and then get out of the way to allow them create a better life for themselves, whatever that might include. And we're not going to take or control your wealth (oil).

The problem is that they fear abnd hate us even more than they hate Saddam. And the way our president talk, acts and what he says only worsens that problem. I just don't understand why this Admin cannot grasp this.

 

Mr Bush promised the Iraqi people that "we are coming with a mighty force to end the reign of your oppressors."

"We will not stop, we will not relent until your country is free," he said in a speech to US Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Monday.

Well I watched that whole part....there was more to what he said. He gave a series of "we are coming to's" and one of them was precisely "we are coming to GIVE you a better life". Stupid. That's all that is. Either that or lazy speechwriting and I'm sure Bush doesn't even read the script in advance.
